Hyper Light Look #2

Every month, hundreds of new indies enter the market. While it would be awesome if all of them could have their own, dedicated review or preview, we unfortunately do not have the time or space to do that in a timely manner. Instead, we offer you Hyper Light Look, our new series of feature articles where we take a quick look at some new indie games.

Offensive Combat: Redux

There are quite a few online first person shooters coming out on Steam and it is always hard to decide which one to start grinding on. Which one will be the most fun and the most rewarding in the end of the day. Well, Offensive Combat Redux somewhat throws all of this out the window and allows you to enjoy some good, fun fast paced first person shooter action, instead of having to worry about the bells and whistles that a game like it could add in order to make it have more of a meta feeling to it.

There are obviously tons of unlockables, both weapons and cosmetics all play their role in the game, but the fact that you can get in and out of the game without too much thought and preparation is what makes it stand out among its rivals. I am personally a big fan of Blacklight Retribution and the Ghost in the Shell online game but Offensive Combat Redux definitely made me feel like there was somewhat a much easier drop-in and drop-out feeling to it compared to all others.

You can find Offensive Combat: Redux on Steam for 2,49€ (on discount from 9,99€).

Rating: 6.7/10

Worth looking at because you would like to have a game you can just launch, play a couple rounds of crazy first person shooting and get out fast.

Lance A Lot

Rumors say that couch multiplayer is the name of the game for the last couple of years on Steam and Lance-A-Lot is here to prove all those rumors true. Not only does it bring us knights on rockets, but it also allows us to take control of them and hit our friends with huge lances.

Not much need be said for this little masterpiece of a party game. Only reason why we are giving it a lower rating is because it is basically a one-trick-pony game and its price is therefore somewhat too much. Maybe if it had online multiplayer it could live up to its price tag.

You can find Lance A Lot on Steam for 6,49€ (on discount from 9,99€).

Rating: 6.2/10

Worth looking at because you are looking for more party games to destroy your friendships with.

One of my absolute favorites for the year of 2016. Puzzle gaming without any boundaries. Not only does this game introduce a bunch of different gameplay mechanics that will have you thinking in different and obscure ways, but it also does it in a beautiful thematic and eye-catching way. Pretty pixel graphics, cool animated little characters to follow and all the colours of the rainbow in their best show are in this game.

Follow your master, the Glitch Witch, as she teaches you, her apprentice, how to hack your way through the magical system that is your computer. Encounter all sorts of different puzzle games that you need to adapt to and solve and become every time you do so. This game only gets better and more fun the more you play it really.

You can find Beglitched on Steam for 9,99€.

Rating: 8.3/10

Worth looking at because you like puzzle games and this is one of those titles that should NOT be missing from your library.

Tribal Pass

Tribal Pass is yet another mini-masterpiece in the jungle of indie games that makes up Steam. The role of the tribe leader is not an easy one and you, the player, are called to take up that role and lead your tribe through a non-stop adventure of all sorts of perils and important decisions that need to be made for your clan.

Emphasis must be made on the non-stop since this is one of those always-running kind of arcade-y games. This gives an amazing feel to it and allows us to work our way through the game with each and every new playthrough we begin. We get wiser, faster and more diligent with all our decisions for our people. Just like a true tribe leader.

You can find Tribal Pass on Steam for 1,24€ (on discount from 5,99€).

Rating: 7.1/10

Worth looking at because you love to try something different and fast-paced arcade games are your thing.
