Hidden Folks at Gamescom 2016
At Gamescom 2016, at the Indie Arena Booth, we also found Adriaan de Jongh with his game Hidden Folks. I may have gotten a bit too excited and bought a poster too, but the game that I played was exactly what I have personally been waiting for, for ages now. So we also had a chat with Adriaan.
Hidden Folks is like Where’s Waldo, but black and white, animated, and interactive: play with the level to find characters in super busy areas! The game will feature areas in different sizes and themes, various interactions to discover, many characters hiding in peculiar places.
The people behind Hidden Folks are basically two, one French and one Dutch. The game has been developed by the team part-time for the past 1.5 years. “We have 20 to 30 levels in the end of the game and they do take a long time to explore,” said Adriaan. The team also went to a lot of festivals to playtest, they changed the marketing and are now saying that “we have learn so much about our game everytime we finish a games expo.” At GC, it was much about their 3rd iteration of it. “We are doing a lot of progress.”
The game will be released on iOS and android devices, as well as on Steam. “We still have a lot of playtesting to do though and for that reason we will be launching a beta soon.”
