Gone Viral Review
If you are looking for a roguelike that asks one and only one question, can you be in control while everything around you is out of control? Then this chaos of a game is right up your alley. It’s name being: Gone Viral.
You can find this review in video format as well.
Gone Viral offers an experience like no other. Giving you a choice: Go in and check your surroundings for ways to complete this room, or go in swords slashing and hope it’s gonna be enough. Like any other roguelike it gives you countless combinations, from having a sword/claws, to having a wand and so far as to having your very own rocket launcher. There are 2 classes in the game at the moment, those being Gladiator and Abacus. Gladiator is your everyday gladiator, sword with an armor and as his secondary attack a gun that is able to hook enemies and bring them closer to you. Abacus on the other hand is a robot, having only shields as its HP and his weapons being the claws, while his secondary attack is a jump and a slam to a certain location depending on where you are aiming.
Every run is unique depending on the fans’ events and drops. Fans can periodically drop packages for you which contain loot after you collect enough carnage, or sometimes even bombs. Traps are also an addition in this game, able to push enemies into them for extra carnage. But it doesn’t stop there, fans can also give you certain events, events of which can even happen in boss rooms. Those events range from tens of beachballs dropping in the room, nukes dropping everywhere, or even having a multiplication event where everything is multiplied by a thousand, resulting in your gameplay dropping to 4 fps, while having some fun.
For a game that is in early access, the items bring in quite the variety, while the bosses on the other hand are only 4 in total. But that is not necessarily a downside. Like I mentioned before, you can bring the events into the boss rooms, making the chaos even larger. destructive and unique.
This game is certainly a buy for people that enjoy roguelikes, especially ones that bring a unique experience to the table. Gone Viral is in early access and will continue to evolve, so if you are in it for the ride, then buckle up, because this is going to be quite the ride, and its destination, is chaos, and a whole lot of dying.
