Arcane Circus was this year at Gamescom 2016 and we had the chance to meet up with one of its developers, Molly Heady-Carroll. We played “Oh Crap I’m Broke!” and we also had a chat with Molly.
It’s almost the end of the month and you don’t have enough money to pay your bills! Quick! Earn some cash NOW and pay those bills before you get evicted! Set in a Cubist-style world, Crap! I’m Broke: Out of Pocket is a hectic life management game with a Cubist art style. The player takes on mini-game style jobs and does whatever it takes to avoid eviction and keep starvation at bay. Dodge death… and debt on Android and iOS!
Molly told us in her own words that the game is a hectic life management game with a cubist art style. Our main goal is to avoid going into debt by doing all kinds of part time jobs. Arcane Circus is comprised of only two people, is based in the Netherlands and is based on the fact that they “wanted to be like a circus, with all kinds of different acts and styles.” The game was originally a flash game but it later became something more than just that.
“I had a dentist bill once and out of that came a whole story,” said Molly explaining about the game’s inspirations. “People seemed to really like it and even though we were looking for funding for another game that we were developing, we suddenly got some for this one.”
The game will be available sometime in October for iOS and Android devices with the price of 1,99 euro. That means it will be a premium game with no advertisements inside the game whatsoever.
