Hyper Light Look #3

Every month, hundreds of new indies enter the market. While it would be awesome if all of them could have their own, dedicated review or preview, we unfortunately do not have the time or space to do that in a timely manner. Instead, we offer you Hyper Light Look, our new series of feature articles where we take a quick look at some new indie games.

Cosmic Kites

Have you played Curve Fever? Well, it doesn’t matter, since Cosmic Kites is here to keep you and your friends company. Grab a kite, leave a trail, avoid your opponents’ trails and survive for as long as you can in order to emerge victorious. As the developers themselves say, it is easy to learn, hard to master and allows for hours upon hours of fun.

Cosmic Kites is most definitely a much buy if you have friends over quite often for games or just hanging out as it is a couch multiplayer indie that you will most definitely revisit all the time.

The game is available on Steam for the price of 8,99€.

Skipper

Fan of low-poly graphics and puzzle games? Then Skipper is for you. Enter one of the most relaxing and also challenging puzzle games that will keep you company for quite a while until you’ve managed to finish each and every one of its puzzles. I have to say that it was most definitely one of the more satisfying puzzle games that I have played lately as its sound design and overall atmosphere allow for a very laid back gameplay experience.

You should pick this up if you are a fan of puzzle games, no question there.

The game is available on Steam for the price of 3,99€.

Botlike

Botlike follows the story of a little robot that does pretty much what most robots are expected to do in shooter games; shoot things. You take control of a grumpy old warbot that is out for revenge and the bot does that through using all sorts of weapons and unique arsenal equipment. The game felt as if it was paying homage to “ye olde action shooters” that were just plain, simple and focused on just allowing the player to shoot things and have fun doing so. If that is what you are looking for, then I would say look no further.

A bit rough around the edges but definitely an action shooter that will keep you company for a few evenings with its blast-everything experience.

The game is still in early access and is available on Steam for the price of 9,99€.

Rating: 6.8/10

Dragon’s Dungeon

Not the most original of names for a game but Dragon’s Dungeon offers the full RPG – roguelike – action – adventure experience one could be looking for in an indie game. It may not excel in all its aspects but it is most definitely a game full of features and things to explore so you are sure that you will not run out of things to do. It might get a bit boring at times due to its very generic RPG nature and it might not offer amazing narrative or anything like that, but if you just want to grind through things and get into some fun combat situations, then Dragon’s Dungeon is most definitely for you.

The game is available on Steam for the price of 9,99€.
