Away: Journey to the Unexpected Gamescom 2017 Interview
Away: Journey to the Unexpected is a colorful first-person feel-good adventure game that combines action, negotiation and rogue-lite elements! Progress through the levels and the story, choose your path, and above all, recruit allies: all the strange characters you meet in game can be played in first person! Idiot workmen, mystery from outer space, new friends, and fast combats await!
We had the pleasure of talking with Hama Doucoure, the PR and Community Manager at Playdius Entertainment, about Away. He told us that the game is a roguelite rpg where you take the role of a young boy with only a stick as a weapon. His real power is making friends and that will be the way to explore the world.
Hama told us that the game is being made by two developers, Aurelien Regard who created The Next Penelope and Rayman series level designer Jim Gennisson. The project started one and a half years ago and at the moment it is 60% completed. This feel good FPS took inspiration from early ’90s Anime and it is designed to blend 2D sprites in 3D environments. There will be a selection of dungeons so the player won’t have the same experience once, filled with secret stages to explore.
We were told that there is already good expectation about the game and that it will be released the first quarter of 2018 for Pc, PS4, XboxOne and Switch. Keep an eye for this beautiful game.
