Antihero Releases Launch Trailer
One of the genres that has been gaining a lot of steam in recent years is the board game genre. Essentially, you play a board game digitally, through your PC. We have reviewed some such games here in Hyperlightup and we are always on the lookout for more. One such game, Antihero, developed solely by Tim Conkling and published by Versus Evil, has just released its launch trailer.
Antihero is a single- and multiplayer strategic digital board game set in a gas-lit Victorian underworld. Players use stealth, cunning, and the occasional assassination to build the most powerful thieves’ guild in the city. Since it only has one developer, Antihero has been in development for 4 years. While that may seem like a lot, the game already has plenty of awards to show that it is indeed the real deal, some of which range all the way back to Antihero’s early stages in 2014.
Antihero seems like a really fun game, full of deceiving and backstabbing between you, the AI and your friends. Apart from the gameplay, the art style is also exemplar, reminding me of many classic board games but also retaining a distinct digital style. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on it.
Antihero releases on Steam on July 10th. It costs 15 euro but currently has a 20% discount.
